Project Management: New Training of the Belgrade Open School for the International Rescue Committee (IRC)

The Belgrade Open School (BOS) has created and implemented an in-house training on the topic of "Project Management" for the representatives of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The training was held by Milorad Bjeletic, Executive Director of BOS, and Vladimir Pavlović, practical policy coordinator on 25 and 26 June in the premises of the Belgrade Open School.

Getting to know all the phases and components of the project management process, quality distribution of resources, costs and risk assessments, were just some of the topics discussed by the participants. Training made an emphasis on the development of soft skills such as planning, communication, setting clear goals and desired project outcomes, which are necessary for their successful implementation. All these topics have been put into the context of the established PCM methodology (Project Cycle Management), which refers to the process of project planning, organization and coordination, with a special focus on the importance of monitoring and evaluating the process and results of projects and a basic idea that the project is a cyclic process and that going through clear steps within the cycle gradually improves the projects’ effectiveness.

The Belgrade Open School offers a wide range of knowledge and skills training for civil society organizations, public administration and the business sector in order to improve their capacities and develop their human resource. Training is tailored to the needs of clients and can address the development of soft skills such as business communication, conflict management, leadership and public speaking, as well as some specific topics such as lobbying, project management, and policy analysis and design.
