Description
Mentoring, and personal and professional development is a lifelong process. Apart from the old mentor-mentee model, where the mentor is usually an employee in a higher position at the company, who helps the mentee, a younger co-worker, so that they are capable of doing a certain job, or to prepare them for some next step in their career, the modern notion of mentoring consists of several different methodologies. A manager must have developed mentoring skills and be capable of realizing them, in both a formal/planned or informal form. There is no such thing as a perfectly made team, every leader can choose and strengthen their team with new people, but also develop their team members, because their results are actually the manager’s results. On the other hand, employees most enjoy working with bosses who are also good mentors, and vice versa, when they quit, the cause could be the direct superior, and not the company they work at.
