Insights into the Future Studies Programme

Future Studies programme aims at introducing the main global trends and world challenges to the selected students. It should provide an answer to the question of how contemporary society is shaped by past experiences simultaneously opening issues of relevance to the contemporary, social, cultural, political and anthropological development of a modern man. By understanding the future, chances are greater that everyone will find and create their place in the great civilizational and historical events that are already permeating and shaping everyday life. The Future Studies programme stimulates debates about the most important trends of the second decade of the 21st century. Likewise, it enables students to investigate the most important issues that will be posed in the future before modern humanity including but not limited: the state-society relationship, the challenges of the post-democratic world, the development of a new multipolar world, the scope of globalization, sustainable development, the issue of identity and the nation-state, the political unification of Europe and the future of European integration, the media impact to the world, the knowledge society and new technologies, nanotechnology and the new technological revolution, the future of labor, genetics. Through the module Skills for the Future, students have the opportunity to acquire skills that will increase their employability and competitiveness at the labour market.

The program is intended for students that are at their final year of undergraduate studies and students of master studies of universities in Belgrade who are curious, restless spirit, active, ambitious, eager for knowledge and continuous personal and professional development with a very clear feeling and need to change their community and make it better. By affirming the role of additional and different education in acquiring and discovering new knowledge and skills, most of the participants of the Future Studies used this rare opportunity to enhance open-mindness and to overcome existing barriers of traditional education. The permeation of different ideas and experiences has always been the highest value of the educational programs of the Belgrade Open School, which gives special dynamic and diversity in the educational process.
The Future Studies programme is constantly developing and harmonizing with the needs of students and modern trends in education.

The one-year multidisciplinary program "Future Studies", intended for selected university students, consists of:

  • Knowledge and Skills Modules: Future of the State and Society, Skills for the Future, Future of the State and Knowledge Society and Looking towards Europe
  • Internship Program
  • Final Project
  • Alumni2Students Mentoring Program
  • Extra-curriculum Activities
