On Wednesday, May 12, the second in a row Students2Students lecture was held, this time by Lazar Ivanović. The topic of the lecture was: New Structural Economics - A Critical Review.
Lazar talked about what characterizes the "old economy" and what characterizes the "new economy" and made a brief historical overview by presenting the important indicators of the success of an economy. Lecturer emphasized the importance of Justin Jifu Lin's book, who presented in his book how he sees the new structural economy that was much needed in the conditions after the world economic crisis. In his book, Lin completed earlier approaches and listed six principles of the new structural economy and six steps towards a high growth strategy. Lazar talked with his generation about why Lin's approach suggests that it is necessary to monitor a country's comparative advantages and use that potential advantage of lagging to achieve dynamic and sustainable growth.
Students talked together about why the new structural economy insists on growth based on innovation, on favoring young talents, infrastructure that encourages productivity and growth, full employment, a strong domestic private sector, but also cooperation of responsible actors such as the state, private sector, citizens and civil society.
