AlumniTalks: What will be the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy of Serbia?

On Monday, June 29, 2020, an AlumniTalks lecture titled Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the economy of Serbia was held by BOS alumni Lazar Sestovic, World Bank.

In the introductory part, the lecturer presented the economic aspect of the pandemic at the global level and its effects in the western Balkans. Afterwards, he focused on Serbia and the specifics of its economy, such as the great importance of agriculture, and the various possible scenarios for the future. In the second part of the lecture, discussion and comments highlighted the aspects of particular interest for the alumni. The conversation concentrated on the similarities and differences between the upcoming COVID-19 induced recession and the one in the aftermath of the economic crisis of 2008, and on the impact of the pandemic on specific industry sectors, namely the construction and IT.

AlumniTalks are events for the Future Studies alumni that allow them to listen to experts from various fields, discuss and share opinions.
