Over the past year, 22 selected students from all universities in Belgrade have had the opportunity to go through a unique educational programme in Serbia called "The Future Studies" of the Belgrade Open School.
Within this programme, students of the XXVI generation had the opportunity to gain insights into the many disciplines that shaped the world around them and to understand the changes that are currently taking place in the digital age in which they operate. Within four modules of knowledge and skills, students participated in lectures and workshops, which provided them with the necessary knowledge and practical skills needed for their future. Creating a campaign for lobbying, crisis management in the PR, analysis of loans given by banks, public workshops are just some of the skills that students acquired in the winter semester. Additionally, students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the analysis of the future of regional and national development, the future of world trade, as well as the aspects that will determine the future of the media and feminism.
The second semester has already begun in January of the current year with an intensive module "Europa", in which students have seen how to make decisions from Berlin to Athens, as well as the essential facts determining the length of the EU accession process. Intensive socializing continued at the Winter School of Teamwork in Gucevo, where students quickly became a full team in the short term instead of a generation.
At the beginning of the spring, students began to get acquainted with all the important aspects of the digital era, starting with artificial intelligence, cyber security and climate change, all the way to answering the question of what really is the number of cameras in shopping centers, and who and how and how our data. In the middle they had the opportunity to get to know the answers to the question of how Serbia can really speed up the process of joining the European Union, what are the political and economic problems that exist in today's Europe, and what is the future of the EU military.
In addition, students within the new Students2Students programme had the opportunity to learn from each other many things from the challenge of existentialism to the attention of the digital era and focus it on important things today.
Yearly student gathering of the XXVI generation was completed with the simulation of the work of the EU Council, held on May 22, 2019, within the framework of the "Views to Europe" module. The students were tasked to present one member state of the European Union and to present their views on the Western Balkans and the accession to the EU. Simulation was a challenge for students because this was another opportunity for them to take on certain roles and to prepare their high-quality arguments for the defense of their attitudes. This type of simulation represents only one of the numerous activities within the module "Views towards Europe", which aims to familiarize students with the theoretical and practical aspects of the European Union.
Communion with students of the XXVI generation is over when the teaching part is concerned. Students continue their journey through the Future Studies within the framework of the completion of the final project and meeting with their mentors within the Alumni2Students programme. In addition, there are also informal gatherings and numerous activities that aim to further network them and strengthen them as a team.
