On Thursday, November 2nd, 2017, in the premises of the Belgrade Open School, the first literary evening was held with the participation of 24th and 25th generation of students of the educational program "Future Studies".The written word is something that has always been of great importance to BOS and it's students. The idea of the Book Club was born among students of the 24th generation, while students of the current generation were eager to participate in this activity. The topic selected for the first literary evening is "Milenians", and one of the sources on the basis of which the discussion was conducted was the text of our alumni, Nevena Milojevic, in the weekly "Vreme", which wrote about the notorious generation of millennials.
Who are the millennials, what are their traits, and what are the values that are leading them through life? Is the labelling of this generation as lazy, spoiled, and irresponsible justified? How do the Millennials see the future and its uncertainty that puts new challenges ahead of them? All of these and many other questions have started a great debate among students, which was moderated by alumni Nevena Milojevic, with the mentor support of the program advisor of the "Future Studies" by Mr Marinko Vucinic.
The Reading Club is a great way for students, in addition to the existing curriculum of the educational program they attend, to discuss the topics they choose, but also to get to know and exchange ideas with the students of the previous generation. The next literary evening is scheduled for December 2017 and the topic of the next meeting is populism.
