Given the fact that before my admission to CEU I was employed, I wanted to make progress in the academic level, to learn how to write academic papers. Therefore CEU was a great opportunity for me to use my previous work experience and combine it with my further academic development.
The most memorable experience at CEU form was certainly making friends from all continents and from all parts of the world, as well as the ability I had to exchange knowledge and experiences with them. CEU is a good opportunity to connect with young people from the former Yugoslavia and to exchange opinions on the history, politics, culture and the general situation of young people in the countries they come from. Networking is something CEU really provides an incredible opportunity for.
The system of work is also quite different so that CEU gives you the chance to work on writing and research assignments. The system allows you not only to memorize and reproduce things other people write about but also to independently determine what interests you and to explore those areas, create arguments, conclude etc. This is precisely one of the greatest advantages this university offers. Besides that, the University offers a variety of extracurricular activities, which are in turn closely related to teaching, various guest lectures, and workshops.
I would advise students who choose to apply to CEU to pay attention to the research proposal, to think about why their theme is relevant and how they can contribute to the further development of the theme. Also, the time spent at the CEU should be used in the best possible way – to socialize with peers and to engage in extracurricular events and other activities.
