The CEU Alumni Chapter is one of the most widespread university networks in the world and has more than 13 thousand members from nearly 130 countries. For several times now, Central European University was listed as having one of the top five alumni programs in Europe according to a survey conducted by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). According to the survey conducted in 2016, which was attended by 10 thousand alumni and included some of the best European universities, CEU was ranked second by the number of volunteers who were involved in its activities, third by the number of alumni who participated in its events, and fourth by the number of alumni donations.
The largest number of CEU alumni are employed in the business sector and in the institutions dealing with education and research, and a large number of them work in international organizations, European Union institutions, in parliaments and ministries as well as embassies and representative offices.
Since 2003, the Belgrade Open School (BOS) stands as a local administrative unit responsible for the presentation and administration of the Central European University (CEU) Scholarship Program. BOS also works on strengthening and improving the CEU Alumni Chapter in Serbia.
The CEU Alumni Chapter in Serbia today counts more than 250 members who have attended one of the Master or PhD study programs at CEU. The CEU Alumni Chapter aims to improve the interconnection of former CEU students from Serbia in order to catalyze the exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as to promote the CEU study programs. Members of the Alumni Chapter engage in various activities organized within the Educational Advising Program with the aim of promoting the CEU Scholarship Programs and recruiting new students. By participating in activities like educational fairs and presentations of the CEU on various faculties, Alumni Chapter members do their best in introducing the prospective students to their experience of studying at the CEU. Alumni are also engaged in aiding these potential new students by clarifying their concerns and advising them throughout the application process. Finally, alumni are actively involved in preparatory sessions for future students.
In addition to that, within the Academic Counseling Program, BOS regularly organizes alumni meetings and informal gatherings of club members with the aim of creating a network of as many members as possible and thus create a strong network within the academic community in Serbia.
