The third stage of the strengthening the influence of Open Society Foundation’s Alumni on public policies in the Western Balkan region this year will be implemented through the project “OSF Alumni as Policy Advisors in the European integration of the Western Balkans”, implemented by Belgrade Open School with the support of Open Society Foundation Scholarship Program.
This year, alumni will have the opportunity to create practical policy proposals on topics that are in the focus of the Berlin Process, and therefore the forthcoming summit of the Western Balkan countries in London, scheduled for July this year. The project envisages the creation of practical policy proposals on topics related to the development of youth cooperation, migration, economic cooperation of the countries of the Western Balkans, the rule of law, transport policy, the emergence of a new wave of populism, ecological change, etc.
After a foreseen process of drafting proposals and mentoring, alumni will have the opportunity to present their summarized practical policy proposals at a regional conference in Belgrade, which, alongside the alumni, will bring together representatives of international organizations, civil society organizations in the region, public institutions, representatives of the European Union and other stakeholders. The results of the work of the alumni and conclusions from the Regional Conference will be distributed to political actors and the general public, especially before the WB6 summit in London. The aim of these activities is to get political actors informed about the results of the work and the suggestions of alumni who possess expert knowledge in certain areas.
