Central European University (CEU) in Budapest has announced a competition for admission to Master and PhD programs for self-funded students for the academic year 2017/2018. Deadline is June 1, 2017.

As a relatively new institution, for a short period of time, CEU has managed to gain a reputation of a world-class institution that is recognized for its innovative methods of teaching and research, linking various academic disciplines and combining specific knowledge with universal values. The ratio of students and teachers is 8:1, which means that students can achieve good contact with professors and cooperate with them during the school year.
CEU, as a socially engaged university, is dedicated to promoting open society values and the development of critical thinking. The emphasis is also placed on the national, religious and ethnic diversity of students, and thus, every year the university enrolles more than 1400 students coming from more than 100 countries worldwide. CEU has a large alumni network whose members are active in alumni chapters in over 69 countries. CEU alumni are often employed in high positions in their countries and various international organizations. Today, more than 200 CEU alumni work in ministerial positions, around 170 of them are employed in one of the institutions of the European Union, and just as many in the United Nations; more than 300 of them are employed in other international organizations such as the World Bank, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and many others.
This higher education institution, accredited in the United States, offers no less than 39 multidisciplinary programs in 13 departments for Master and PhD studies. CEU also has 19 different research centers. Given that areas of study at this University are mainly in the field of humanities, students can apply for some of the programs at departments of political science, international relations, economics, law, gender studies, nationalism, and many others. Candidates who wish to apply for some of the Master or PhD programs must have a certificate of previously completed studies and a certificate of passed test of English, which along with other documents must be sent no later than June 1, 2017. Application documents include a completed online application form, two letters of recommendation, CV and additional documents depending on which department you are applying for.
