"Afternoon CEU gathering" is an event that brought together Central European University alumni and future students. It was held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the European Center for Culture and Debate. The event has been organized by the Belgrade Open School with the support of the Central European University and CEU Alumni Chapter in Serbia with the aim of connecting different generations of CEU students, as well as raising funds for the Serbian Alumni Scholarship (SAS).
The Serbian Alumni Scholarship was founded in 2014 with the aim of providing additional financial assistance to students from Serbia while studying at CEU. Funds for this scholarship are collected from donations by Central European University alumni.
On this occasion, Sara Penđer, the Alumni Chapter Coordinator, addressed the assembled students and alumni with more information about the activities of the Alumni Chapter in Serbia, as well as about the importance of empowering the CEU Alumni Chapter in Serbia. The students were greeted by Nena Grčeva from the Central European University Alumni Office. Furthermore, she introduced students with the Serbian Alumni Scholarship, as well as with the support campaign for Central European University. Darko Majstorović, the SAS grantee for the academic year 2015/2016, shared his experience regarding the use of the scholarship and the volunteer work at CEU he was engaged in within the scholarship program. Finally, students had the opportunity to hear about the importance of the scholarship from Radoš Keravica, this year's SAS grantee.
Thanks to donations from alumni, a significant part of funds for the Serbian Alumni Scholarship has been gathered. The deadline for scholarship applications is June 18, 2017. More information on how to apply are available here.
