07. Aug 2017.

The Belgrade Open School (BOS) in association with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Serbia and the Foundation Eduardo Frei from the Netherlands, realized the XI Regional School of Democracy "New Leaders - New Opportunities" for youth representatives of the political parties, right-center oriented, from countries of the Western Balkan, from July 24th to 28th at Srebrno jezero.

Participants of this year's school are representatives of right-center parties from Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Kosovo[i].

During the five-day seminar, through interactive lectures, workshops and simulations, 21 participants discussed with lecturers and trainers how a successful political team looks like, which roles they can take in such team, how decisions are made and conflicts resolved in a team . In addition, they had the opportunity to learn about ideologies, electoral systems and ethics in politics, as well as European integration, the rule of law and the fight against corruption.

Participants shared, through a group work, their experiences about challenges of regional policy and cooperation, from the perspective of the countries they represent. Finally, through simulations, they had the opportunity to learn about process of forming post-election coalitions, and thus once again recall the significance of the decision-making process, active listening and consensus as a way of decisions making.

Over two hundred participants have passed through the education program for democracy. The program aims to provide young leaders additional knowledge about politics, to help them develop skills and motivate them and enable them to improve regional political co-operation.
