The goal of the Education for Democracy programmes is to raise awareness, improve the skills and knowledge of primarily young people from the Western Balkans countries, so that they can actively and constructively participate in the democratic processes.
During the course of over two decades of working on educating individuals for participation in the democratic processes and for understanding democracy, BOS has organized over 70 trainings, seminars and programs, that were attended by around 2000 participants.
BOS also continuously organizes regional summer schools for young political and community leaders from all parts of the former Yugoslavia, and since the year 2000, 21 schools were organized in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia, and over 300 participants attended them.
NEW LEADERS – NEW OPPORTUNITIES
As part of the Education for Democracy programme, Belgrade Open School (BOS) has been organizing, with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) and the Eduardo Frei Foundation(EFF), the Regional School for Democracy for political party representatives called ‘’New Leaders – New Opportunities’’ since 2006. The aim of this programme is to provide young leaders of relevant political parties with additional knowledge in the field of politics and to develop social skills with the goal of improving their daily political work in relevant parties, and to motivate and enable them to improve regional political cooperation, which is of the utmost importance in the ongoing European integration process.
