Are you worried by polluted air, too much waste, insufficient care of the rivers, the way decision makers treat nature and climate change?

Apply for participation in the Green PowerUp – Civil Society Support Program for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of Local Communities and become part of an incubator where we will work together on developing and realization of green project ideas that will improve quality of life in your communities. In this time of global crisis, local voices are particularly important, and we will work together to strengthen them.
Green PowerUp – Civil Society Support Program for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of Local Communities has two components:
1. Support for formal civil society organisations;
2. Support for informal grassroots organisations.
This particular call applies only to the first component of the Program, intended for civil society organizations.
What does support for civil society organizations in the Green PowerUp Program look like?
Participating organizations will be provided with:
- Financial support for the realization of their projects;
- Capacity-building program for the project and financial management, as well as a program for the development of specific knowledge and skills related to Chapter 27 (environmental protection and climate change);
- Expert and mentorship support during project implementation;
- Participation in Coalition 27 activities, through monitoring local environmental policies and gathering data for contributions to the Coalition's 27 Annual Shadow Reports, as well as taking part in Coalition 27’s events.
What topics do we address on the Green PowerUp– Civil Society Support Program for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of Local Communities?
The thematic areas covered by this Program are:
- Waste management; (We especially encourage ideas dealing with the circular economy);
- Air quality;
- Nature protection;
- Water protection and management;
- Climate change;
- Horizontal legislation;
Who can apply?
Support within this Program is intended for civil society organizations that:
- Are registered as associations, foundations or endowments, in accordance with the Law on Associations or the Law on Endowments and Foundations;
- Have an annual turnover of less than EUR 50,000.00;
- Currently are not beneficiaries of financial support from EU programs, nor are they beneficiaries of financial support within other programs funded by EU funds.
The application process consists of two phases:
- Phase 1: Submission of Project Idea;
In the first phase of selection, organizations are expected to clearly describe in the form of a concept or project idea the problem they want to solve, describe what results they want to achieve, and propose activities that they believe to be adequate for solving the problem, and to identify all those actors who can help them in the process.
Phase 2: Submission of full Project Proposal.
In the second phase of the selection, will participate up to 35 pre-selected organizations, they will develop their project ideas into full project proposals with the mentorship of the BOS team. For up to 35 selected organizations, will be organized pre-selection training during which BOS will receive mentoring support and guidelines for further development of project ideas to the level of elaborated project proposals. BOS reserves the right to close additional documentation or additional information from the project applicant in Phase 2 of the selection. The selected organizations will be informed in a timely manner about the manner of participation in the pre-selection training.

By when is the call open?
The deadline for submission of project ideas is 14th of March 2021, up to 23 hours and 59 minutes.
Proposals of project ideas submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
The program is a part of the project “Green Incubator", which is implemented by Belgrade Open School together with partners Young Researchers of Serbia and Environmental Engineering Group. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations dealing with environmental issues, in particular to monitor the European integration process of the Republic of Serbia, to foster initiatives of local informal groups, as well as to explore the potential and make recommendations for socio-economic development of local communities based on principles of green (circular) economy.
