Twelfth edition of the “Energy, Climate and Environment” newsletter of BOS

Belgrade Open School brings you the twelfth edition of its monthly “Energy, Climate and Environment” newsletter.

In light of the dynamic development of public policies in the field of environment, climate change and energy - both at national and global level - we think it is important to keep up with trends for all of us interested in these issues. There are many sources of information, as well as events, and it is not always easy to keep track of all of them. We prepared for you the overview of the most important news and events in the previous month, at the level of Serbia, the region, the European Union and at the global level.

While the EU tries to address the challenge of climate change, people all over the world are filing law suits against private companies and countries because they suffer from the consequences of climate change. Green energy cooperatives might be a way to tackle energy poverty and reduce GHG emissions. Small hydro-power plant projects and thermal power plants still hamper environment om the region, however there is a growing resistance towards such projects because of its effect on environment and public health. Non-compliance of waste management practice with waste management hierarchy and illegal landfills occuring continuously present a great challenge for local self-governments, particularly during summer.

These are some of the topics you can find out more about in the latest edition of our newsletter, which is available here. You can register for receiving the newsletter regularly on this link. The newsletter archive is available here.
