Members of the MINGL Editorial Board take part in the “Green Youth” Project

The introductory trainings within the “Green Youth: raising awareness of youth on environment protection through innovative media strategies” project, were held at Belgrade Open School on Friday, September 7th and Saturday, September 8th. Members of the MINGL web portal editorial board had an opportunity to learn more about the topics related to environment protection.

The first day of the training started with a brief introduction of the lecturer, Predrag Momčilović from Belgrade Open School, with training participants, and a short presentation about the project itself. After the introductory part, related to mass production and resource consumption, members of MINGL editorial board got a chance to hear more about environment protection as a part of Serbia’s EU accession negotiation process: the Chapter 27. As part of the training, field visits were organized on the first day of the training. Training participants were introduced with the oldest Belgrade resident – an old oak tree (Quercus arbor) at Flower Square (Cvetni trg) and then visited two taxus trees in the garden of the Belgrade Cathedral Church, which are under protection of the state, as well as Jevremovac Botanical Garden.

On the second day of the training, participants learned more about climate change and circular economy. Projection of short movies on these subjects, such as “The Theory of Stuff”, followed and ignited debate among participants on these very important topics.

The goal of this project is to help MINGL editorial board in producing media content on the topic of environment protection and inspire young authors to cover this comprehensive topic. Within this project, journalist trainings will follow in order to raise capacities of editorial board to produce media content on the topics they learned about through the training.

The “Green Youth” project will be implemented in the period from August to November this year, in cooperation of BOS and MINGL, and with the support of the Ministry of Environment protection of the Government of Serbia.
