Learning together about the 2030 Agenda and sustainable development goals

Surely you sometimes imagined what your life would be like in 10 years? You wrote down still unfulfilled wishes on a piece of paper, shared your aspirations with your closest friends. Along the way, you thought about what kind of social changes would follow, in which direction technology would progress, what breakthroughs in science we might expect. Will the world around you follow your personal dreams? This same, complicated, interdependent, wonderful but often cruel world operates by certain rules and its future does not have to be blurred by unfulfilled dreams and vague promises.                                                                                                                                                          An international document aptly named 2030 Agenda offers us a vision of what it could look like in the next decade. It is a world of universal respect for human rights and human dignity, the rule of law, but also justice, as well as equality and non-discrimination. It is also a world whose inhabitants do not breathe polluted air, who have free access to drinking water, whose farmland have not been abandoned due to over-exploitation. The 2030 Agenda has gathered all these principles in 17 Sustainable Development goals that represent, globally, the most comprehensive plan to eliminate extreme poverty, reduce inequality and protect the planet.

Belgrade Open School has prepared an online lecture on Sustainable Development Goals, namely those concerning the protection of the environment in which we live. These are the goals that tell us how to stop the galloping consequences of climate change, how to keep our seas and oceans blue, and how to stop taking from nature more than we can give back. Through eight video lessons, learn about the Agenda and its principles on environmental protection, and if you're interested enough, you can download an additional learning script that gives you the opportunity for a few more hours of serious reading.

Online lectures can be viewed at sdg.bos.rs.

The lectures were prepared under the "Sustainable Development for All" Platform, supported by the Governments of Switzerland and Germany and implemented by the GIZ.  Partners on the project are Belgrade Open School, BFPE Foundation for a Responsible Society, and Center for Advanced Economic Studies, Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, Center for Democracy Foundation, Timok Youth Center and Smart Collective.
