Belgrade Open School, together with the local partner organization - Association of Young Researchers Bor, in the previous period worked on the Contribution to the Development Plan of the City of Bor. This document is a proposal for parts of the Development Plan of the City of Bor in the field of environmental protection. It was developed in order to support local self-government in the upcoming challenging process of drafting the Development Plan, which was established by the Law on the Planning System of the Republic of Serbia as an obligation for all local self-governments in Serbia. Local development plans need to be aligned with Agenda 2030, the global umbrella document on sustainable development. Therefore, the part of the Development Plan which is covered by the Contribution, refers to the goals of sustainable development: 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.
The document was prepared in consultation with stakeholders from the local community. Last year, two consultative meetings were held in Bor with the aim of gathering comments and guidance from representatives of local self-government, local civil society organizations and interested citizens. During the consultation process and the drafting of the document, special attention was paid to the principle of Leave No One Behind. The principle is reflected in the efforts to ensure that all social groups are equally represented in the process, as well as to respect the interests of all citizens. The Contribution to the Development Plan of the City of Bor in the field of environmental protection was submitted to the City Administration of Bor.
The document was developed within the framework of the Sustainable Development for All Platform, supported by the Governments of Switzerland and Germany, and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The project partners are the Belgrade Open School, Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society, the Center for Advanced Economic Studies, the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation, the Center for Democracy Foundation, the Timoc Youth Cente and Smart Kolektiv.
The Sustainable Development for All Platform implies the establishment of a public dialogue among the most important non-state actors in Serbia, such as civil society, corporate sector, academic and research community, professional associations, media, and citizens, on aligning Serbia’s development priorities with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The idea is to facilitate interaction with decision-makers on aligning Serbia’s development priorities with the goals contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
