The CS4EU project contributes to better civil society cooperation

15. Dec 2018.

The beginning of the third year of the project Civil Society as a Force for Change in Serbia's EU Accession Process (CS4EU) was marked by a gathering of partner civil society organizations at Belgrade Open School's premises, 11-12 December 2018.

During the two-day training, representatives of 17 project partners had the opportunity to present their achieved results and successes during the past, second year of the CS4EU project, as well as their future directions of action. Some of the results achieved were contributions to the European Commission Report for Serbia for 2018, a high readership of five research stories and more than 240 media articles aimed at bringing European integration closer to citizens, four shadow reports on the state of democracy, human rights, youth policies and child safety and many others that have contributed to better connecting and strengthening of civil society in Serbia.

In addition to summarizing the impressions and lessons learned from last year, the training also offered partners the opportunity to speak with a media strategist and lecturer at the Faculty of Media and Communication, Lazar Dzamic. The lecture was dedicated to effective ways of communication of civil society organizations, bearing in mind that ways of reaching out to citizens and calling for action and participation are changing at a high speed, especially when it comes to social networks and online communication.

During this lecture, as well as others related to financial management of the project or during individual consultations with the Belgrade Open School team, the partners had the opportunity to ask questions in relation to personal, concrete examples, and to reach the answers through common experience and expertise of all partners and lecturers.

The partner organizations that continued the cooperation on the project and received institutional support were:

  1. Uzice Child Rights Center
  2. Tijana Juric Foundation
  3. National Coalition for Decentralization
  4. Mental Disability Rights Initiative Serbia MDRI-S
