On Tuesday, February 25^th 2020, the spring semester for the XI generation of the PolitiKAS education programme began at the new location, Konrad Adenauer Foundation premises. Participants were greeted on behalf of the Konrad Adenuer Foundation by the Programme Coordinator, Gordana Pilipovic, who welcomed the participants.

The first lecture in the spring semester within the Politics II module was delivered by Stefan Surlic, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade. The focus of this interactive lecture was on Identity Divisions in the Public Sphere and Institutions of Democratic Plural Societies. The lecturer emphasized the multiple dimensions of identity identification that by entering a political space, with specific demands can result in the formation of insurmountable social cleavages.

The topic of the second lecture, within the European Integration module, was Understanding the European Union: An Introduction to the Institutional Framework and the Decision-Making Process. This lecture was delivered by Natasa Dragojlovic, Coordinator of the National Convention on the European Union in Serbia. The participants had the opportunity to find out why reforms in the accession process are more important than the EU membership itself, and other interesting information.

During the spring semester, students will have the opportunity to learn about European Integration and political concepts relevant to the organization and functioning of society and its political system. Some of the topics will focus on the future of the European Union, the European integration of the Western Balkans, the future of the political scene and democratic institutions, as well as other global trends.

Students will complete the work of the spring semester by writing two academic essays that will analyze in more detail some of the topics they were able to hear during the lecture. The end of the programme for the XI generation will be marked by a special lecture of the lecturers chosen by the students, as well as by the award of certificates.
