On 26th of September 2018, at the Zira Hotel, the Belgrade Open School organized the second meeting of the National Forum for Youth Employment in the form of a working breakfast. The National Youth Employment Forum is a platform that brings together relevant actors in the field of employment, employability and youth entrepreneurship, in order to map solutions to challenges in these areas through a cross-sectoral approach.
The forum presented concise practical policy proposals on the topics: Youth Employment - Key Challenges of Public Policies in the Western Balkans, as well as Active Measures for Youth Employment - Key Challenges of Public Policies in the Western Balkans. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Economy, Agriculture and representatives of international organizations.
The second meeting of the National Youth Employment Forum, aimed to, among other things, consider practical policy proposals as well as to discuss national reports on the Development and Promotion of Lifelong Entrepreneurial Learning and the Incentive Environment for Youth Entrepreneurship in Serbia. Moreover, it strived to develop recommendations for improving these areas.
It is underlined that the educational system in Serbia still today prepares students to work in (large) companies. Serbia does not have a specific strategy for the development of lifelong entrepreneurial learning. Therefore, entrepreneurial learning remains a pervasive element of several educational strategies from primary to tertiary education, including adult education.
National reports and practical policy proposals were discussed with representatives of the ministries of the Republic of Serbia (economy, youth and sports, etc.), the National Employment Service, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, as well as the representatives of business sector and civil society organizations.
