How does the EU assess the freedom of media in Serbia?
Is there a legal framework or internal rulebook which ensures political pluralism of public broadcaster?
What have we achieved so far with the introduction of the recycle program and the reduction of wild landfills?
Is there a control of filtration in heating plants and factories?
These are just some of the questions about freedom of media and environmental protection directed to public institutions which you sent us during December 2018 within the project „YOU4EU – Citizen Participation 2.0“.
You pointed out the lack of political pluralism in media and you wanted to know more about the assessment of media freedom. You provided numerous examples of air pollution, unregulated waste disposal, influence of mini hydropower plants on ecosystems. You were active, requested explanations, outlined problems and provided solutions. And thank you for sharing that with us!
But this is not the end of the campaign!
In a few days we are continuing collection of questions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram about the following topics:
- Personal data protection – the rights of citizens in this area, the ways in which the data is collected and processed; the responsibilities of a natural person, legal entity and public authority who collect data;
- Transparency of public funding – the availability of information about the allocation of resources from the republic budget and the budget of local self-governments, the budget planning and prioritization;
- EU accession of Serbia – what has Serbia achieved so far in the adjustment of its legal framework with the EU legal framework.
Join us!
This is another chance to raise your voice about critical issues related to the reforms of Serbia within the EU accession process. And more importantly – we want your voice to be heard in the Serbian and the EU institutions.
Next step?
After we complete the collection of your questions and comments in January, the most frequent questions about the problems and challenges of our society will be included in the questionnaire which will be sent to relevant institutions in Serbia and the EU.
All the compiled questions will be published in the publication 50 key questions about the future of the European Union in the middle of 2019. We will also present your questions to the representatives of the EU administration in Brussels.
The citizens in Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro will simultaneously pose the questions about critical social and political processes in their countries, and the results will be also included in the final publication.
Let’s show the decision makers what they should have in mind when they make policies which affect all of us!
Let’s show the EU institutions the challenges which should not be neglected and the problems which have to be resolved!

We are continuing the campaign this week!
