Belgrade Open School organized interactive workshops on May 22nd in Grammar school "Branko Radicevic" in Stara Pazova. During workshops, our team covered the idea and usefulness of transversal skills, the challenges and opportunities of living in a big city, and the wonderful period awaiting high school juniors in near future. The workshop was dedicated to the high school senior and junior students, and the goal of the event was to empower the students to make authentic and informed decisions about their career and education.
The students were divided into two groups for two parallel sessions. One workshop presented transversal skills - what they are, how students can develop them and how they can decide which skills might be the most useful in the future job market. The students had an opportunity to learn how to recognize the skills they already have developed and were introduced to different ways in which these skills can be applied during their university years.
Simultaneously, a different workshop took place. In a casual world cafe format, the high schoolers had a chance to chat with the recent university graduates. The speakers shared their experiences and useful hacks for navigating the seemingly confusing university structure; the ups and downs of living in a big city, but they also shared their own career dilemmas and what are the alternative options to studying.
The event gave juniors and seniors of "Branko Radicevic" an opportunity to be empowered by gathering useful information in an informal and approachable setting, to be empowered by experiences of their peers and to discover new educational and professional opportunities they will have in their reach.
