Belgrade Open School (BOS) held the “Career Guidance and Counseling in high schools – basic training” on January 20th and 21st, 2018. in Leskovac. Twenty-six teachers and professionals from Technical School “Rade Metalac” and School of Economy “Đuka Dinić” from Leskovac participated in the training.
The goal of the training was capacity building of Career Guidance and Counseling Teams in schools, as well as empowering teachers and professionals to actively use elements of Career Guidance and Counseling in their work.
The basic training for Career Guidance and Counseling in high schools was held by Jelena Manić Radoičić, programme manager of the Improvement of Employability Programme (BOS) and Tamara Stanojević, career counselor and project coordinator in BOS.
The first day of training included a discussion on different Career Guidance and Counseling Models and an interactive sessions about career information and student counseling techniques. The second day of the training was dedicated to the importance of self-knowledge/self-awareness and career information for students. The teachers had a great opportunity to find out what are the best ways to advise and encourage students when it comes to choosing a career path.
The training was accredited by the The Institute for Advancing Education and Upbringing and is worth 16 points.
