The Belgrade Open School (BOS) organized an accredited training "Career guidance and counseling in secondary schools - basic training" on 6th and 7th July 2017. in the premises of BOS. The training was attended by 22 teachers and professional associates from 12 secondary schools throughout Serbia.At the beginning of the training, participants were greeted by Olivera Stepanović in the name of Solidar Suisse / Suisse Labor Assistance (SLA) - Office in Serbia. On the first day of the training, Jelena Manić Radoičić, Program manager of the BOS Program for improving of employability, introduced the participants with the conceptual and strategic framework of career guidance and counseling and on that occasion presented a draft of Standards of Career Guidance and Counseling Services. With Tamara Stanojevic, BOS career counselor, the teachers discussed about the career guidance and counseling models, and got the opportunity to acquire knowledge about career information and student counseling through interactive sessions. On the second day of the training, Jelena Matić Uvalin from the National Employment Service presented to participants what young people from vulnerable groups can expect on the labor market. With the researcher of the Institute of Psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy Oljom Jovanovic, teachers had the opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences on the subject of empowerment of students from vulnerable groups for learning and progress in education.
In the second part of the training, teachers in small groups designed workshops for students in accordance with the standards of career management skills, which will later be implemented in their schools with the mentor support of BOS team.
At the end of the project, the members of the selected teams will be given the opportunity, in November 2017, to participate at the accredited "National Annual Conference on Career Guidance and Counseling" which BOS organizes for the third year in a row. During the conference, the most successful school will get opportunity to present their achievements, successes and innovations in the area of the KViS.
The training was realized as the first project activity within the project "Quality services for better youth employment - KviS na BIS" with the financial support of Solidar Suisse / Swiss Labor Assistance (SLA) - Office in Serbia. The training is accredited by the The Institute for Advancing Education and Upbringing of the Republic of Serbia and has 16 points.
