Virtual Internships: Opportunity for youth to improve their professional skills

05. Jul 2023.

As part of the „Virtual Internships for inclusive Societies“ project, the second team partner meeting was held in Skopje on the 3rd and 4th of July.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences on virtual internships from partner countries, the needs of youth in the area of competence improvement, the barriers that youth are faced in this field, as well as the support mechanisms that are available to them during education and the transition to the labor market afterward. Additionally, the meeting provided a framework for the development of a model of cooperation between the educational system, business, and the civil sector, which will be available to young people when they enter the labor market and respond to its challenges.

By the review of the existing models of virtual internships in Italy, Spain, North Macedonia, and Serbia, the participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with different legal frameworks, contents, and ways of implementing internships for youth, which will provide the basis for the creation of a transnational review on virtual internships at the European level. This approach will enable the mapping of common challenges and barriers for youth at the European level, as well as the formulation of virtual internships, which will provide the basis for the creation and implementation of virtual internship programs, which will simultaneously be able to respond to the needs and trends of the labor market development, but also to take into account the career needs and preferences of young people.

The project "Virtual Internships for Inclusive Societies" is implemented by the Belgrade Open School, in partnership with the National Youth Council (North Macedonia), the organizations Pixel (Italy), XANO Channel (Spain), Junior Achievements (Belgium), Junior Achievements (Serbia). The project is implemented in the period from 2022 to 2024 and is supported by the European Commission.
