Career Academy was an educational program that has enabled 27 young people from all over Serbia to acquire practical skills for career planning based on personal desires and the needs of the labor market. Students learned about the concept of career counseling and informing, which empowered them to help peers in their community to make decisions about choosing a profession, education and career.
Participants who have successfully completed training and earned the certificate are present in the Youth Offices and are helping their peers in dealing with career concerns.The project consisted of:
- The two-day workshop in Belgrade, in the first week of November, at which young people were introduced to the concept of career information, communication and counseling skills, process of planning and designing of career. They participated in workshops on CV writing and job interview simulation.
- Online Educational Program that lasted 6 weeks, during which the participants developed their knowledge of career planning, job search, career guidance and counseling, with the help of experts, the active use of the Internet and practical exercises.
- Students have conducted a mini-survey on the needs of the local labor market, which are published in a special publication on employment.
- Peer workshops were organized in local youth offices in January and February, at which participants were presented to young people as peer counselors for career information and publication on employment were distributed.
During the project a special web page on employment was created where young people can find information about financial literacy, work ethics and other topics.
Career Academy was implementing by the Belgrade Open School, and funded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia.
