Students of the XXVII Generation of Future Studies participated from March 5 to March 8, 2020, in the Teamwork Winter School on the Gucevo mountain.Through this traditional Future Studies elective activity students have an opportunity to develop their skills and form an efficient and highly functioning team not only through many workshops, lectures, and simulations but through spending time together and socializing as well.
The first day of Winter School started with two lectures from Milorad Bjeletic, Belgrade Open School Executive Director. On the first lecture, students learned about the concept of teamwork and differences in goals and responsibilities between members of a team and a group. The second lecture focused on team roles. By completing a test, students learned about themselves and about roles in a team that suit their characters the best. The XVII Generation discovered that every efficient team in its foundation has an adequate division of roles and tasks between members. The day was closed with a simulation organized by Vesna Djukic, BOS General Director, which required the making of an important decision by consensus.
On the second day, work continued in the same vein. The first workshop was held by longterm BOS lecturer, Vladimir Pavicevic. He talked about seven phases of team organization and team functioning and focused on the role of a team leader. Students played a game called Impulse with Vladimir, that allowed them to test and apply in practice lessons learned, while having fun. Afterwards, the second simulation by Vesna Djukic, which build on the experience of the first one, had the XXVII Generation deciding by consensus on a complex situation with only limited information available. Vladimir Pavicevic continued with the workshop concerning public appearance and handling of unexpected situations and the day was closed with the traditional BOS Quiz.
The third day was marked by a workshop dealing with the business communication, that was organized by Jelena Sapic, Future Studies Programme Coordinator and Gordana Bojanic, Communications and Development Coordinator. On this workshop, that closed the working part of the Winter School, students participated in several games, exercises and simulations through which they acquired knowledge about the challenges of the business communications, how to overcome them and learned about the rules of assertive communication. Nice and clear weather in the afternoon was ideal for a walk that led students from breathtaking mountain views to the spa town Banja Koviljaca at the base of Gucevo.
After the return from the Teamwork Winter School, the XXVII Generation continues with lectures on modules Classroom 4.0 and Looking towards Europe, internship programme, Alumni2Students mentoring programme, work on their final project and many extracurricular activities.
