The team for improving the employability of the Belgrade Open School took part in the role of lecturer in the training "Development of youth policy at the local level, within the specialized training program to support newly appointed leaders in local self-government units, coordinated by the National Academy of Public Administration. The training was held in period 17-18th December 2020.
Mayors and presidents of municipalities who are in this important position for the first time, had the opportunity to learn how they can improve youth policy in their local community. The importance of the existence of youth offices, local action plans for youth, as well as the establishment of local youth councils, while ensuring the highest standards of youth participation, was especially emphasized. The importance of support for the establishment of youth centers and clubs, while ensuring the quality of youth work and non-formal education, was presented to decision makers. A member of BOS presented a lecture on the topic of career guidance and counseling of young people in terms of improving their employability, but also numerous benefits such as prevention of dropping out of education, adaptability to changes in the labor market and the like. In addition to acarier guidance and counseling, the trainings also presented examples of good practice at the local level in the areas of active participation, youth entrepreneurship education and coworking space.
The implementers of the training also created an action plan for the improvement of the local youth policy, which the mayors and presidents of the municipalities will implement in the following period in their local self-government units.
