On Thursday, December 10, in the online classroom of the Belgrade Open School, the XXVIII generation met their mentors within the Alumni2Students programme, which is part of the educational programme Future Studies. The mentoring program, which BOS has been implementing for six years, aims to connect current generation students with BOS alumni.
The Belgrade Open School recognizes the importance of mentoring that young people need in different situations and periods of life, so the idea of the A2S programme is that all students should receive the support of older BOS members who are now successful people in various professional positions. In order to make easier decisions and to solve dilemmas on a personal, professional or academic path, every student of the XXVIII generation will have their own mentor. The great importance of the A2S programme is its two-way nature, which means that mentors share their knowledge and experiences, but learn from their mentees about new trends, innovations and ideas of young generation. This type of cooperation between mentors and students, older and younger, surely encourages new acquaintances, friendships and strengthens the intergenerational interaction of BOS members.
A longtime associate of the Belgrade Open School, Jelena Manić Radoičić, in cooperation with the Future Studies team, facilitated this introduction workshop. Jelena presented the goals of the mentoring programme, potential ways of cooperation and important details related to the programme. The success of the A2S programme reflects in the fact that some mentoring couples continue to cooperate even after the official end of the programme. One of them is Ivana Rudinac and Miljana Golubović, as well as Vanja Knezević and Predrag Topic, who shared their experiences with students and mentors.
The A2S programme is one of the many BOS activities, which allow students to develop their potential, improve and learn from the experiences of mentors who were once in the same situation as the students.
