The state of emergency also encouraged civil society organizations to use innovative tools and digitize work. Therefore, the activities on the project "Active Citizens - Better Society: Advocacy for Cooperation and Democratic Development" are being moved to the online space. The project team made sure that the planned activities on the project were implemented at the scheduled time, and important knowledge and skills related to the successful implementation of advocacy campaigns will be acquired in a virtual space.
From April 27 to June 24, 2020, an online training will be organized consisting of a series of webinars as part of the CSOs' support package, which received support this year to implement their advocacy initiatives - to project and program partners. The aim of the training is to interactively strengthen the capacities of CSOs in conducting advocacy campaigns.
The training will begin with an introductory session, after which webinars are divided into five modules. Each module consists of two sessions of 90 minutes each and will be held every other Wednesday starting at 10 a.m. Within each module, one session will be dedicated to the advocacy and the other session to the communication component.
Webinars will provide project and program partners additional information on the preparation and implementation of advocacy campaigns, that is, answers to questions on how to conduct the campaign in a strategic way, taking into account all key actors. This training will also provide participants a basis for developing a communication plan for the project and learning about the basics and skills of communication on social networks, as well as an overview of communication trends in the nonprofit sector. The phenomenon and importance of social networks will be considered, as well as how to best utilize the communities gathered on the networks. Also, one part of the training will be devoted to the methodology of media work, review of the media scene in Serbia, as well as formats that must be used for communication to be successful.
The project is implemented by Belgrade Open School in partnership with the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence (BFPE) and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN Serbia), with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
