XXVII Generation of the Future Studies discussed Aldous Huxley's Brave New World on February 2, 2020, as a part of BOS Book Club.Students talked with Future Studies programme advisor Marinko Vucinic about the themes of the Brave New World. They exchanged their views of whether the truth is more important than happiness and expressed their beliefs in the importance of critical thinking and philosophy for the free society. Without them, people would not be able to recognize the loss of freedom and the enforcement of total control, about which Huxley wrote. Through the discussion, as one of the most striking themes, students identified the dominance of consumerism, which brought to mind the state of contemporary society. General impression about the novel was it's relevance, timeliness and predictive power.
