Get Together: Study Visit of CEU Students to Belgrade

14. Jun 2016.

The event "CEU Trip to Belgrade" gathered former, current and future students of the Central European University (CEU). It was organized on Friday, June 10, in the premises of the Belgrade Open School. About twenty students from around the world, currently studying at CEU in Budapest, took part in a study visit to Belgrade.  During the visit, they organized a meeting with the CEU Alumni Network in Serbia. Lecturers from local alumni, and students from Serbia who will begin master or doctoral studies at this university in the academic 2016/2017 attended this three-hour session.

Lectures aimed at introducing the students with the socio-political trends in Serbia. These were delivered by Aleksa Andjelkovic, a lawyer and alumni of the generation 2006/2007 who completed MA legal studies at the CEU, Dusan Pavlovic, a professor of contemporary political economy at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, 1997/1998 alumnus, and Nikola Burazer, who did his MA in nationalism in 2014/2015. Nikola focused on the place of Kosovo in the history and present-day Serbian-Albanian relations.

Representatives of the NGO Atina, who are engaged in the fight against human trafficking, presented a film entitled "The Refugee Crisis - Reactions of the Serbian government and civil society organizations", followed by a discussion on the refugee crisis.

This event was organized in cooperation with the CEU Alumni Network in Serbia and the Belgrade Open School. A study visit of 20 CEU students was organized thanks to the initiative of the first winner of the Serbian CEU Alumni Scholarship, Darko Majstorovic, who is currently on master studies of nationalism in Budapest.
