On Tuesday, 9th of October, representatives of the Belgrade Open School (BOS) have presented their work in the field of career guidance and counselling within the conference “Career Guidance and Counselling in the Republic of Serbia and Europe”organized by Euroguidance center. Over 250 career practitioners from the Republic of Serbia took part in the conference.
During the panel “Development of competencies of career practitioners in the Republic of Serbia – exchange of experiences, challenges and directions for development”, Božidar Dimić, the coordinator of projects in the BOS programme area Improvement of employability, presented the work of Belgrade Open School in the field of career guidance and counselling, especially in the field of development of competencies of teachers and professional associates from secondary schools. He reminded participants of the context of the development of career guidance and counselling in Serbia, initiatives in this area and continuous efforts of Belgrade Open School to keep career guidance and counselling at the agenda of decision-makers. Besides, it was talked about the current activities of Belgrade Open School in this field, as well as new accredited training courses.
Within the panel discussion ”Encouraging the development of career management skills of students – current programmes and directions for further development”, Aleksandra Đurović, researcher of Belgrade Open School, presented the findings from the research report ”Career guidance and counselling and work-based learning”. Research is concerned with the role of career guidance and counselling in secondary schools which have educational profiles in dual education. Based on the research findings, recommendations for successful implementation of measures for career guidance and counselling in dual education predicted by the bylaw have been formulated, as well as concrete advice for secondary schools how to advance their work in this field.
