5 for 5! - Five awards at the Fifth Fair of Schools Teams for Career Guidance and Counseling

29. May 2019.

That school activities can at the same time encourage creativity and innovation of students while actively contributing to identifying their own competencies and interests related to further education, showed the jubilee fifth edition of the Fair of Schools Teams for Career Guidance and Counseling held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce on the 27th of May 2019.

The Fair aims to bring together secondary school teams of teachers and professional associates who deal with career guidance and counselling of students, as well as other interested representatives from secondary schools and other institutions and organizations, in order to enable the exchange of experiences and improve their work in this field.

Seventeen schools of different educational profiles - medical, technical, agricultural schools and gymnasiums have exhibited the activities of their students, which include the construction of 3D printers, the organization of a quest for solutions to various tasks, walking tours around Belgrade and making personalized perfumes and soaps.

The most active and most creative schools received awards. The first prize includes a cash check of 20,000.00 dinars that can be used to promote the career guidance activities as well as participation in the international youth mentoring conference in Florence, awarded to the Technical School from Požega. The second place went to the Zajearska High School, and beside the check of 10,000 dinars, the prize is also the participation in the international conference in Belgium on social inclusion and empowerment of young people with disabilities in society. In addition, three more schools received awards and recognition in the form of financial support or study trip opportunities.

Since 2004, the Belgrade Open School has been actively working on the development of career guidance and counselling system in Serbia. Through career guidance and counselling young people are empowered and trained to plan their career development and points out that schools are not only a place to acquire knowledge but also prepare for everything that follows after leaving school - both in terms of continuing education and inclusion to the world of work. The fair was organized by the Belgrade Open School in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, with the financial support of Solidar Suisse - Office in Serbia.
