How to create a quality mentoring program for young people from vulnerable groups? What are the steps in creating inclusive leisure activities? These are some of the issues that are the subject of the three Erasmus + projects in which the Belgrade Open School participates as a partner, presented at the consultative meeting "Social inclusion and empowerment of youth from vulnerable groups", held on January 22, 2019.
The meeting gathered a significant number of teachers working directly with youth from vulnerable groups, representatives of umbrella youth organizations, as well as organizations that conducting various mentoring programs for youth in the field of creativity, encouraging the development of entrepreneurship and prevention of dropouts from the education process of young people.
The six-month mentoring program for youth from vulnerable groups
The meeting started with the introduction of the VM-pro project: Validation of mentoring for young people. In addition to presenting basic project data, special attention has been paid to the presentation of a Guide for the implementation of mentoring for youth created within the project. They discussed innovative (operational and reflexive) mentoring tools developed by the Italian School of Mentoring as the project leader and expert in the field, as well as the opportunities for applying it in mentoring in Serbia. Special interest was in the possibility of using e-mentoring as an important segment for facilitating and more effective working with mentions. The final part of the session announced further steps in the project related to the implementation of the six-month program of mentoring for youth from vulnerable groups.
How to create smartly leisure time
In the second part of the meeting, a guide and a manual for youth workers are presented that want to organize activities for quality leisure time for young people, including youth with disabilities. These materials are produced within the project Leisure time as a positivist youth peer pedagogy. In the coming period, a mobile application for youth workers' advice will be created, and all materials will be tested in practice.
Accessible services for youth with disabilities.
At the end of the meeting, the HORECACCESS project is presented which will contribute to improving the accessibility of services for young people. Within this project, among other things, will be created an android application that will contribute especially to the disabled with higher quality and more affordable services in the domain of the sector of the sector (travel and accommodation services, visiting cafes, restaurants ...).
