26th Generation fighting against Tyranny with Knowledge

24. Dec 2018.

The first book club of this year was held on Friday, 21st of December 2018 at BOS, by the students of the educational programme ‘’Future studies’’ with the book "Tyranny" written by the historian from Yayle, Timothy Snyder, as the main topic.

As a versatile group that consists out of 22 great young individuals which come from various educational backgrounds, 26th Generation is well aware of the power of books, which makes the book club a next logical step within the electoral activities which are a part of the educational programme ’’Future studies’’.

At the first literal gathering of the generation, 10 students attended, while the book of choice for the occasion was ’’Tyranny’’ by Tymothy Snyder. Students discussed the topic of tyranny through several different perspectives, that was based on 20 key messages made by the author. The most talked about concepts related to tyranny were critical thinking, personal privacy and social media. The first gathering of this kind was moderated by the programme advisor of the educational programme ’’Future studies’’ Marino Vucinic.

Thanks to this very productive debate and exchange of ideas, students came to a suggestion that the book club should become a regular activity which will be held on a monthly basis, which was the original plan from last year when the book club at BOS initially started. In this way, the 26th Generation will fast-forward their way from being a group of individuals to becoming a united and cohesive team.

Next book that will be on display is ’’Sidharta’’ by Herman Hesse.
