Belgrade Open School presents you the ninth edition of the monthly newsletter “Energy, Climate and Environment”.
In light of the dynamic development of public policies in the field of environment, climate change and energy - both at national and global level - we think it is important to keep up with trends for all of us interested in these issues. There are many sources of information, as well as events, and it is not always easy to keep track of all of them. We prepared for you the overview of the most important news and events in the previous month, at the level of Serbia, the region, the European Union and at the global level.
At the global level, more and more states are introducing the ban on certain plastic products, which pollute the environment permanently. The European Commission has introduced the Draft Budget for the seven following years in May this year. In this proposal funds for environment protection and climate change action are increased, compared with the budget currently in place. In our region, we could witness further progress in creating new green jobs and development of solar energy cooperatives. In Serbia, the topic of environment received less attention, compared with other political priorities. Media coverage of this topic is increasing on couple days a year only, such as World Environment day, or in a case of a major environmental disaster or a threat. New dumping site of illegal toxic waste was discovered in Obrenovac.
These are just some of the topics you can find out more about in the eight issue of the “Energy, Climate and Environment” newsletter, which can be downloaded here. You can access the newsletter archive on this link.
If you have any suggestions on the topics that you would like to read about in our newsletter, or you have any other proposal, feel free to get in touch via email mirjana.jovanovic@bos.rs .
Best regards until the next issue!
