Consultative meeting “Let’s Talk about Negotiations” was held on 3rd of April 2018 in Požega. Meeting was organized within project “Let’s Speak about Negotiations” by the Belgrade Open School and organization “Forca” from Požega. Main topic was environment protection in accession negotiation process of Serbia with EU.
Participants discussed on EU integration of Serbia, especially on negotiation chapter 27 and environment protection. Focus was put on EU standards adopted in Serbia in area of communal services. Vanja Dolapčev on Behalf of the BOS and Miroslav Tamburić, on behalf of Forca addressed participants.
Conclusion of the meeting is that is necessary to bring EU integration closer to citizens, to inform citizens and to present them all benefits of EU membership. Speakers pointed out importance of local government in accession negotiation process, since more than 70 % of EU acquis communautaire is implemented on local level.
Project “Let’s Talk about Negotiations” is conducted since 2013 with an aim to contribute to the Europeanization of Serbia through promoting transparent and accountable process of EU accession negotiations based on dialogue and partnership between authorities and civil society.
